- Sarah Ferguson was the producer of this film. Her daughter, Princess Beatrice of York, makes a cameo appearance as one of Victoria's ladies-in-waiting.
- Each of the costumes that Emily Blunt wore was insured for £10,000 each.
- Most of the interior scenes were filmed at Belvoir Castle in Leicestershire. The bed used in the honeymoon scene was slept in by the real Queen Victoria when she visited the castle. The bedroom was so small the crew had to film through the windows.
- The large green bed cost £25,000 to build. It was purchased after filming by the Duke and Duchess of Rutland, who are the owners of Belvoir Castle.
- The crown that Emily Blunt had to wear was so heavy that when she took it off it left deep indentations in her head. Because of the weight of it she had to move around very slowly while wearing it.
