Anna (Emily Browning) was put in an asylum when she was young. When she returns home she is shocked to discover that her father has remarried. After being visited by the ghost of her mother, Anna suspects her stepmother (Elizabeth Banks) wants her dead.
Film Trivia
- Emily Browning, who had played a series of young and innocent characters, wanted to appear in a more adult role. When this psychological horror film came along she was determined to star in it.
- Emily Brown claims that her diet suffered while making this film. She is usually quite healthy but because she worked such long hours she would eat anything that was put in front of her.
- This marks the final appearance in a film by Don S. Davis, who plays Mr. Henson. He died after the film was made.
- Emily Browning and Arielle Kebbel play sisters in this film. After first meeting at rehearsal they didn't get along with each other but once the film was completed they had become good friends.
