Jim Carrey stars as the Grinch, a grumpy green creature who wants to ruin Christmas. He decides to steal Christmas from Whoville, the town that kicked him out. But a little girl makes friends with him and tries to melt his heart.

• Anthony Hopkins recorded all his narration for the movie in one day.
• At one point The Grinch pretends he is a director. Jim Carrey has said he was imitating director Ron Howard for this scene.
• Director Ron Howard arrived on set early one morning and donned the entire Grinch costume, including make-up. He proceeded to direct for the rest of the day dressed this way.
• The photo of the Grinch in the Whoville newspaper has the Grinch in the same pose as the infamous photo allegedly taken of the Sasquatch.
