Film Trivia

• Though the film is entirely populated by puppets, many of the characters are freestanding, with performers inside. For long shots of Jen, a midget actor wore his outfit and mask.
• Fellow Muppeteers Jim Henson and Frank Oz directed this film together.
• Jim Henson originally intended to call the film The Dark Chrysalis. After a miscommunication between Henson and the art department he found himself staring at concept art of a crystal and was so impressed he decided to integrate it into the story.
• Gary Kurtz, the producer of Star Wars, was an uncredited director on this film.
