Film Trivia
- Kenneth Branagh's character, Alistair Dormandy, is a parody of Tony Benn, the UK's Postmaster General in the 60s.
- This film is loosely based on Radio Caroline, a popular pirate radio ship in the 60s. But instead of making the film entirely factual Richard Curtis decided to put his own spin on the story.
- Philip Seymour Hoffman is the only American cast member. Richard Curtis has said that because of this, his is the only character who doesn't have a birth name, he is known only as The Count.
- Director/ screenwriter Richard Curtis chose not to research what life was like on board a pirate radio ship. He did this because he said he wanted the film's story to come entirely from his own imagination.
- Director Richard Curtis gave each actor who was going to play a DJ an iPod. Each had 30 tracks on it that Curtis thought that DJ would have played. Philip Seymour Hoffman's had American pop such as The Mamas and Papas and Nick Frost's had The Kinks.
