• Before Max runs into Sharkboy, a fast food bag for Big Kahuna Burgers is seen. This is a fictional fast food establishment that Quentin Tarantino made up.
• The main character is called Max after Racer Rodriguez's middle name.
• Kristin Davis, who plays Max's mum, found fame starring as Charlotte York on the hit television series Sex and the City.
