Film Trivia
- The idea for this film came to Trey Parker and Matt Stone when they were watching episodes of Thunderbirds. The two instantly decided that a puppet action film would be 'the perfect way to send up all those Jerry Bruckheimer movies'.
- Sean Penn was so insulted by his portrayal in this film that he wrote a letter to Trey Parker and Matt Stone accusing them of encouraging disembowelment, mutilation and death. He signs off the letter 'All the best, and a sincere f**k you'.
- When the palace in North Korea is shown, several of the smaller buildings were made using Chinese take-away boxes. Similarly, for the opening scenes in Paris, the streets are paved with croissants.
- George Clooney was instrumental in helping Trey Parker and Matt Stone get South Park to air. Both he and Matt Damon have said they would be offended if they weren't in the film.
- The Michael Moore puppet was stuffed with ham before it was blown up.
