In the distant future mankind is locked in battle against a planet of alien bugs. It is up to soldier Johnny Rico (Casper Van Dien) and his comrades to nuke the bugs and save humanity. Co stars Denise Richards, Neil Patrick Harris and Jake Busey.

Film Trivia

• In this film both males and females shower together. Dina Meyer dared director Paul Verhoeven and cinematographer Jost Vacano to shoot the shower scene in the nude themselves. They both agreed.
• Casper Van Dien broke a rib while performing a stunt involving jumping off a tanker bug.
• Most of the bugs in the film are CGI but some robotic models were built. While filming battle scenes, director Paul Verhoeven stood in front of the actors, jumping around and screaming, so they would have something to respond to.
• This film is based on the novel of the same name by Robert A. Heinlein. Director Paul Verhoeven has confessed that he only read part of the book before becoming bored and depressed with it.
• Paul Verhoeven has claimed that this film has an anti-war message.
