Film Trivia

  • Mercedes-Benz asked that their logo be removed from any scenes taking place in the slums. Danny Boyle claims this is because they were afraid the poverty-stricken area would affect their image.
  • For the scene where the young Jamal jumps through the toilet, peanut butter and chocolate was used as a substitute for human waste.
  • Director Danny Boyle placed the salary of the three lead child actors in a trust that is to be released to them when they finish school at 16.
