• Anthony Hopkins was inspired to make this film after witnessing a death on a movie set. A crew member collapsed and died after eating a birthday cake that had been laced with marijuana.
• Anthony Hopkins was fascinated by how easily we can slip between being awake and being asleep. He wanted to explore the doorway between the conscious and the unconscious states in this film.
• Having not directed a film in over a decade, Anthony Hopkins was convinced to direct this film by his wife.
