- Stunt men were in position to catch Jack Black when he performed his stage dive just in case he fell.
- The finger point and nod that Jack Black's character teaches Zack is a move that Angus Young of AC/DC performs in concerts.
- Robert Tsai, who plays Lawrence, approached director Richard Linklater and confessed that he wanted to pull out because he was too nervous. Linklater replied that it was his insecurity that made him perfect for the part and kept him in the movie.
