John Rambo (Sylvester Stallone) refuses to accompany old friend Colonel Trautman (Richard Crenna) behind Soviet lines in Afghanistan. But when Trautman is captured, Rambo leads a daring rescue mission as bullets and bombs start to fly.

• This film was banned for a short time in the UK due to the Michael Ryan killings. Ryan went on a bloody rampage killing 16 people and wounding 14 and claimed that he was inspired to do it by this movie.
