• Most of the underground sequences were shot in an actual abandoned mine in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The crew members said that it was the worst place they had ever filmed in.
• Director Patrick Lussier also has a long history of editing horror films. Some of the films he worked on include the Scream trilogy and Halloween H20: 20 Years Later.
• Jensen Ackles, who plays Tom Hanniger, also starred as Dean in the hit US television series Supernatural and as Jason in Smallville.
