• Rachel McAdams was told by director Mark Waters to base her character on Alec Baldwin's performance in Glengarry Glen Ross.
• Although Lindsay Lohan and Rachel McAdams are in the same grade in the film, McAdams is actually eight years older than Lohan.
• Tina Fey coached Rajiv Surendra on how to rap for his performance in the school's Winter Talent Show.
• Lindsay Lohan was initially cast as Regina, but she complained that the public might think that she was a bitch in real life and so asked to play Cady, the nice girl instead.
• Tim Meadows broke his hand before shooting and had to wear a cast. So it was written into the script that his character Mr. Duvall had carpal tunnel syndrome.
