Eric Bishop is going through a mid-life crisis. Since his wife walked out on him everthing has gone wrong. His sons don't like him and his friends ignore him. But one night he is visited by Eric Cantona and his life changes forever. Directed by Ken Loach.

  • Eric Cantona claims that in both this and French Film he was keen to poke fun at his serious persona.
  • Director Ken Loach was eager to work with Eric Cantona because he had admired him as a player for many years. He particularly liked his quote 'When the seagulls follow the trawler, it is because they think sardines will be thrown into the sea'.
  • Eric Cantona plays the trumpet in this film. He learnt how to play the instrument while serving a nine-month ban from football for kicking a supporter.
  • There are two Erics in this film, Eric Cantona and Eric Bishop. To distinguish between them, Cantona was called Big Eric and Bishop was called Little Eric.
  • Screenwriter Paul Laverty has collaborated with Ken Loach for many years.
