Uma Thurman stars as a woman who wakes from a coma to find the baby she was carrying gone. She sets out on a revenge mission against the team of assassins she used to be a part of with the final aim of killing her ex lover, Bill (David Carradine).

• Quentin Tarantino offered Uma Thurman the role of The Bride as a 30th birthday present. She accepted, but Quentin Tarantino had to delay the start of the production because she was pregnant.
• Uma Thurman's yellow tracksuit is a homage to Bruce Lee, who wore the same design of tracksuit in his final film Game of Death.
• Kevin Costner and Warren Beatty were both offered the role of Bill but turned it down.
• Quentin Tarantino wanted all the fight scenes to be as authentic to traditional martial arts films as possible. Scenes of blood spurting were accomplished with Chinese condoms full of fake blood as opposed to professional squibs.
• $65,000 was spent on swords for this movie.
