• Writer Noel Clarke originally wanted to play the role of Trife but he was too old and opted for the part of bully Sam instead.
• This film marks one of Jaime Winstone's earliest acting roles. She also went on to play Kelly on the television series Dead Set.
• Director Menhaj Huda originally directed music videos and commercials before turning his attention to feature films.
• Aml Ameen, who stars as Trife, also played PC Lewis Hardy on The Bill for five years.
