Armando Iannucci's satire about a US President and a UK Prime Minister who want to go to war. A mild-mannered minister (Tom Hollander) is dragged to Washington, where he must deal with spin-doctors and an anti-war US General (James Gandolfini).

Film Trivia

• Before filming began, director Armando Iannucci accessed the US Department of State simply by flashing a photo ID card and saying 'BBC. I'm here for the 12:30'. He then spent a few hours walking around and taking pictures for his set designers.
• This film was based on the television series The Thick Of It, which was also written and directed by Armando Iannucci and starred Peter Capaldi and Chris Addison.
• Director Armando Iannucci provides the voice over for when the UN resolution passes.
• James Gandolfini, most famous for his role as Tony on the hit US television series The Sopranos, stars in his first film role since the series ended as former US General George Miller.
• Peter Capaldi, who stars as Malcolm Tucker, is a familiar face from British television having starred in Torchwood, The Devil's Whore, Doctor Who, Skins, The Thick Of It and Waking The Dead.
