Macaulay Culkin's family have lost him again, but this time he is alone in New York. Using his dad's credit card to survive, he must take on the criminals (Daniel Stern and Joe Pesci) he thought he had seen the last of in the city that never sleeps.

• While filming, director Chris Columbus spent $60,000 on artificial snow. The day after it was scattered on set there was a blizzard.
• All of the children in the toy shop scene were allowed to take home a toy of their choice as part of the salary. Even though it didn't work, Macaulay Culkin took home the Talkboy.
• After the success of this movie a real-life Talkboy was created by Tiger Electronics, along with its pink and purple counterpart the Talkgirl.
• Macaulay Culkin was offered $8 million to star in this movie, which at the time was a record for a child actor.
• Businessman Donald Trump makes a cameo appearance in this film as the man in the Plaza lobby who Kevin asks for directions.
