- While filming, director Chris Columbus spent $60,000 on artificial snow. The day after it was scattered on set there was a blizzard.
- All of the children in the toy shop scene were allowed to take home a toy of their choice as part of the salary. Even though it didn't work, Macaulay Culkin took home the Talkboy.
- After the success of this movie a real-life Talkboy was created by Tiger Electronics, along with its pink and purple counterpart the Talkgirl.
