FILM TRIVIA:

>John Candy filmed his part as a favour for writer John Hughes who had written parts for the comedian in ‘Planes, Trains and Automobiles’ and ‘The Great Outdoors’ amongst others. Candy filmed his scenes in just a day!

>Writer John Hughes came up with the idea after working with Macauley Culkin on ‘Uncle Buck’ and there was a scene in which Culkin’s character is home alone and is interrogating potential babysitters through a mailbox.

>According to the Guinness Book of World Records, this film holds the worldwide box office record for comedy, accumalting more than $533 million worldwide!

>Robert DeNiro turned down the opportunity to play Harry and instead his friend and frequent co-star Pesci took the part. Reportedly, he kept forgetting that it was a family film and so had to repeatedly say ‘fridge’ instead.

>Pesci’s character is named after Harry Lime – Orson Welles’ character in ‘The Third Man’.
