Film Trivia
- Richard Harris, who played Hogwarts headmaster Albus Dumbledore in this and the first film, died of Hodgkin's disease three weeks before the film was released. He'd informed director Chris Columbus that he'd "kill him if he recast".
- Hugh Grant was originally cast as Gilderoy Lockhart but was forced to withdraw at the last moment due to scheduling conflicts.
- While filming any scenes with Dobby in them, Dobby was played by a ball on a stick. The look seen in the film was added digitally later.
- Complaints came out of Norway upon this film's cinema release that after screenings of this the staff had to clean up sick. Apparently the over consumption of sweets led to children throwing up during the scene where Ron begins vomiting giant slugs.
- Nurses had to be drafted in one day on set due to an outbreak of head lice among the younger members of the cast.
