Stephen Dillane stars as Jakob, a writer who is tormented by events from his childhood. Nazis murdered his parents when he was growing up in Poland, but through his writing and the discovery of true love he is freed from the ghosts in his past.

• This film was adapted from the novel of the same name by Anne Michaels.
• Author Anne Michaels was heavily involved in the production of this film. She read early drafts of the script, watched casting tapes and even visited the set on a number of occasions.
• Director Jeremy Podeswa also directed a number of episodes of hit US television series' including Nip/Tuck, Six Feet Under and The Riches.
