Film Trivia
- This marks Jennifer Aniston's first film after her public break up with Brad Pitt.
- Producer Anthony Bregman plays the driver who shows Jane his middle finger at the market.
- Director and screenwriter Nicole Holofcener wrote Catherine Keener's role specifically for the actress and gave the script to her before anyone else. Keener then helped get the other main actors involved with the film.
- Frances McDormand had a contract saying that she couldn't be away from her family for a certain period of time. Because of this the last week of filming took place at her house in New York.
- The farmer's market sequence was shot guerrilla style, with permits, but without any extras. Most of the people are real shoppers and didn't notice Frances McDormand or Jennifer Aniston among them.
