A group of teenagers arrive at Camp Crystal Lake hoping for a good time. But what they didn't count on was running into the deranged maniac Jason Voorhees. Full of rage after the murder of his mother, Jason will stop at nothing to get revenge.

Film Trivia

• This film has one of the longest pre-credit sequences in cinematic history. It is almost 15 minutes before the credits appear.
• Although Warrington Gillette is credited as playing Jason, in most of the scenes Jason was played by stunt man Steve Dash. Gillette only plays the unmasked Jason in the sequence where he crashes through the window.
• The first scene in this movie is a shot of Jason's legs as he walks down the street. This is the only time in the Friday the 13th series of films that Jason was played by a woman. Costume designer Ellen Lutter played him.
• Jason was dressed in this film to look exactly like the killer in The Town That Dreaded Sundown.
