• Director Kari Skogland first became aware of the true story when a friend gave her the book on which this film is based.
• Director/writer Kari Skogland lived in Belfast while she wrote the script for this film because she felt it was important to get a feel for the city.
• Jim Sturgess worked with a dialogue coach to help get the Belfast accent right. He would also visit bars and speak with the locals to help him perfect the sound.
