Ernest (Jim Varney) gets a job as a fix-it man at a summer camp for troubled kids. But what he really wants is to become a camp counsellor. He causes all sorts of chaos at the camp but helps many of the children along the way.

Film Trivia

• The middle initial in Ernest P. Worrel stands for Powertools.
• Several items in Ernest's cabin, including the alligator puppet and the picture of his mother, were used in commercials that Jim Varney appeared in during the 80s.
• This marks the final film appearance for Iron Eyes Cody, who plays Old Indian 'Chief St. Cloud'. Though he didn't die until 12 years after this film was made, he stopped making films in 1987.
