After his mother dies, illusionist Harry Houdini (Guy Pearce) sets out to prove there is life after death. He visits Scotland and announces he will pay $10,000 to anyone who makes contact with his mother. Catherine Zeta Jones stars as a stunning psychic.

Film Trivia

• When the script for this film was first written Houdini was not in it at all. The writers originally wanted the film to be a drama exploring the way an audience readily believes in psychic powers. Houdini was added at a later stage.
• Guy Pearce was so used to researching his characters and sticking to the facts as much as possible that director Gillian Armstrong had to tell him to calm down. She explained it was simply a movie not a historical piece or a biopic.
