After the death of their son, a couple (Sam Neill and Nicole Kidman) decide to go on a yachting trip. They rescue the lone survivor (Billy Zane) of a boating accident, but discover that the man is a deranged psychopath.

Film Trivia

• This movie is based on the novel of the same name by Charles Williams. Orson Welles once tried to direct an adaptation of the book but he never completed it.
• Before filming began, Nicole Kidman took lessons to learn how to steer the boat. At the end of the film it really is Nicole Kidman controlling the boat.
• Sam Neill met his future wife, Noriko Watanabe while making this film. Wantanabe was working as a makeup artist at the time.
