Alan Rickman stars as an ex-pat living in Paris who loves French wine. When he hears rumours that California may be able to produce better wine he sets up a blind tasting session and is shocked to discover their ambition. Co stars Bill Pullman.

• Although the sense of smell is crucial to his character in this film, Bill Pullman lost the ability to taste and smell things after hitting his head and falling into a coma for two days while in college.
• This film is based on the true story of Steven Spurrier.
• Freddy Rodriguez, who stars as Gustavo Brambila in this film, also played Gio on the hit US television series Ugly Betty.
• The Parisian street scenes were filmed in California using cars provided by members of the Arcane Auto Society car club. Those owners whose cars were used in the scene were allowed to be extras.
• After starring in this movie as Bo Barrett, Chris Pine went on to star as James T. Kirk in Star Trek.
