Film Trivia

  • The title for this film is based on a quote from The Princess Bride, 'If your love were a grain of sand, mine would be a universe of beaches'.
  • Mayim Bialik, who plays the 11-year-old CC Bloom, does not sing in this movie. Bette Midler wanted someone who sounded like she did at that age, so her singing was dubbed.
  • Barbara Hershey had collagen injected into her lips to make herself look younger for the film. She was 40 years old at the time but had to play Hillary from her college years to mid-thirties.
  • Bette Midler's character sings a song about Otto Titsling, the inventor of the brassiere. This song first appeared on her 1986 album called Mud Will Be Flung Tonight.
