Film Trivia
- Diane Kruger insisted on meeting director Fred Cavaye before agreeing to star as Lisa, because she felt the character wasn't fleshed out enough. So Cavaye and Kruger spent several months developing Lisa into a more significant character.
- Co-writers Fred Cavaye and Guillaume Lemans didn't do any research for this film because they didn't want the audience to forget that the hero was an ordinary person who wouldn't really know how to proceed.
- All the prison scenes were shot in chronological order because director Fred Cavaye felt it would be important for the actors to feel the evolution of their characters.
- 150 children auditioned for the role of Oscar. Director Fred Cavaye originally wanted a five-year-old but realised it would be too hard to shoot around the two hours of daily allocated work time. Instead he settled on a younger-looking six year old.
- Composer Klaud Badelt came onto the project at a late stage and watched the completed film to see where music was needed. Although Badelt felt the film worked well without music, Cavaye convinced him to provide the score.
