• Director Nanette Burstein lived in a small town in Indiana for a year while making this film. She claims to have shot over 1,000 hours worth of footage in order to capture every pivotal moment of the teenagers' lives.
• The movie poster for this film was inspired by the poster for The Breakfast Club, due to the films' similar stereotypical characters.
