Years have passed since Ted Striker (Robert Hays) avoided a plane crash and saved hundreds of lives. But as luck would have it, Striker is going to have to do it again because the space shuttle he is on has malfunctioned and it is heading for the sun.

Film Trivia

• The hanging lady from the first Airplane movie also appears in this one. She is the woman who vomits while listening to Striker's anecdotes.
• Sonny Bono's character is carrying a bomb in this film. His briefcase is covered in stickers from his previous destinations including Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Pearl Harbour and Dresden. All of these are cities that were destroyed by bombs.
• The theme music used in this film is from the hit 70's television series Battlestar Galactica.
• The fast beeping noise that occurs multiple times in this movie was the sound of an Atari computer loading up.
